The 120 Hz IE5 m650-U from Lenze is a three-phase AC motor developed for dynamic machine axes. A wide speed setting range and low mass inertia keep torque constant across the speed range and cut the energy needed for acceleration and deceleration, making it more dynamic than a conventional three-phase AC motor.
Compared with an IE3 motor, the m650-U lowers losses by up to 40% and reaches IE5 under IEC TS 60034-30-2 and Grade 2 under GB30253-2024. It is built for dynamic tasks, provides up to 250% starting torque from standstill and is two frame sizes smaller than an IE2/IE3 motor of equal power.
The series spans 0.75 … 22 kW and 1.9 … 56.5 Nm in B3, B5 and B14 mounting designs. Lenze has optimised the motor for use on its own, as a geared motor with g500 gearboxes and with i510/i550 cabinet, i550 protec and i550/i650 motec inverters; it can also be ordered with the drive package already mounted.
