This drive unit pairs the 120 Hz IE5 m650-U three-phase motor with an i650 motec frequency inverter mounted directly on the motor, so speed is controlled at the machine rather than from the control cabinet. On top of speed control, the i650 brings a Logic PLC, table positioning and Safe Torque Off (STO) via CIP Safety into the field.
Compared with an IE3 motor, the m650-U lowers losses by up to 40% and reaches IE5 under IEC TS 60034-30-2 and Grade 2 under GB30253-2024. It is built for dynamic tasks, provides up to 250% starting torque from standstill and is two frame sizes smaller than an IE2/IE3 motor of equal power.
The combination covers 0.75 … 22 kW with torques of 1.9 … 56.5 Nm and is available in B3, B5 and B14 mounting designs.
