This drive unit pairs the IE5 m550-U three-phase motor with an i650 motec frequency inverter mounted directly on the motor, so speed is controlled at the machine rather than from the control cabinet. On top of speed control, the i650 brings a Logic PLC, table positioning and Safe Torque Off (STO) via CIP Safety into the field.
Compared with an IE3 motor, the m550-U lowers losses by up to 40% and reaches IE5 under IEC TS 60034-30-2 and Grade 2 under GB30253-2024. It provides up to 250% starting torque from standstill and is optimised for sensorless operation on Lenze inverters.
The combination covers 0.37 … 11 kW with torques of 1.9 … 56.5 Nm and is available in B3, B5 and B14 mounting designs. Connection via terminal box or standard plug connectors keeps commissioning quick.
