ADL550 is the most comprehensive model in the WEG ADL500 elevator drive family. It drives asynchronous and synchronous (gearless) motors with field-oriented control across a wide range, from fast passenger lifts in high-rise buildings to single-phase home lifts.
Its integrated safety package is the key differentiator: an STO SIL3 certified circuit removes the need for the two contactors between motor and drive, the Safe Brake Test (SBT) function checks the brake holding torque, and with the external EBC500 module the brakes are controlled electronically at SIL3 level. Brake feedback is also monitored continuously to detect car movement with doors open.
The ADL550 is available at 4–45 kW (-4), 5.5–22 kW (-2T) and 1.1–5.5 kW (-2M). An integrated universal multi-encoder card, CANopen Lift 417, an optional DCP3/DCP4 card, position-controlled direct arrival at floor and emergency operation from a 48–96 V DC battery are part of the package.
Features
Contactorless STO SIL3
A certified Safe Torque Off circuit makes the two independent output contactors unnecessary.
Safe brake test and control
The SBT function verifies brake holding torque, and the EBC500 module drives the brakes at SIL3 level.
Synchronous and asynchronous motors
Geared and gearless lift machines are driven with closed-loop field-oriented control.
Universal encoder interface
SinCos, EnDat, SSI, BiSS and digital incremental encoders connect without extra boards.
Direct arrival at floor
A position-controlled travel profile brings the car to the floor without a creeping approach phase.
Emergency and stand-by management
A 48–96 V DC battery supply and system stand-by management reduce energy use and rescue time.
Applications
- Fast passenger elevators in high-rise buildings
- Gearless synchronous lift machines
- Residential and commercial building elevators
- Home lifts with single-phase supply
- Elevator modernisations under EN 81-20
