WEG's decentralised drive solution, the MW500, moves the variable speed drive out of the control panel and into the field, mounted directly on the motor terminal box or on a wall. Long motor cables and panel space are reduced, and in modular machines each station can run independently with its own drive.
The MW500 uses the same platform and programming logic as the CFW500. It drives induction and permanent magnet motors in scalar, sensorless and encoder vector, and VVW PM modes. The IP66/NEMA 4X aluminium housing is suitable for indoor and outdoor use (out of direct sunlight), with versions with or without a disconnect switch.
The second-generation (G2) product includes a built-in Category 2 RFI filter, Modbus RTU/BACnet over RS-485, a 24 V DC supply, four isolated digital inputs, analogue input/output and an optional STO module. Plug-in modules add CANopen, DeviceNet and Profibus-DP, and the drive fits W22 motors via 56 or 70 mm terminal box adapters.
