WEG HVAC-R drives are variable speed drives specially equipped for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. The CFW501, the core of the range, shares the CFW500 platform and provides the functions building automation needs as standard.

Fire mode keeps the motor running in critical situations such as smoke extraction by overriding the drive's internal faults. Dry-pump protection, broken-belt detection, short-cycle protection, a filter maintenance alarm, sleep/wake-up mode, a PTC input and bypass via relay protect pumps, fans and compressors. An automatic energy-saving function reduces motor flux according to load to cut losses.

BACnet MS/TP, Metasys N2 and Modbus-RTU are built in. An internal RFI filter, harmonic performance that needs no line reactor (IEC 61000-3-12), 3C2 conformal-coated boards, display in engineering units such as °C, bar and m³, and a built-in SoftPLC make the CFW501 suitable for hospitals, airports, shopping centres and commercial buildings.

Features

Fire mode

In critical situations the drive overrides internal faults and keeps the fan or pump running.

Pump and fan protections

Dry-pump, broken-belt and short-cycle protections extend equipment life.

Building automation protocols

BACnet MS/TP, Metasys N2 and Modbus-RTU are included in the standard product.

No line reactor required

Low harmonic design meets the requirements of IEC 61000-3-12.

Engineering units

Process values are displayed directly in °C, °F, bar, psi, m³ and similar units.

Energy saving

Automatic flux optimisation lowers motor losses at partial load.

Applications

  • Air handling unit (AHU) fans
  • Chillers and refrigeration compressors
  • Circulation and booster pumps
  • Hospital, clean room and laboratory ventilation
  • Airport, shopping centre and hotel HVAC
  • Smoke extraction fans
