SSW7000 is a WEG soft starter for starting, stopping and protecting three-phase induction and synchronous medium voltage motors. By controlling the firing angle of anti-parallel thyristors, it reduces the voltage applied to the motor at start, limiting starting current and torque and reducing mechanical shocks and supply voltage dips.
Main and bypass vacuum contactors or vacuum circuit breakers, motor protection and ground fault protection are standard in the cabinet, so no separate protection relay is needed. The power and control sections are fully isolated by fibre-optic firing. WEG's FTC (Flexible Torque Control) technology provides a linear speed ramp according to constant, linear or quadratic load profiles.
Five starting modes are available — voltage ramp, current limit, current ramp, pump control and torque control — together with 8-channel Pt-100 motor temperature protection, a graphic LCD interface, SoftPLC and DeviceNet, Profibus-DP, EtherNet/IP and Modbus options. The series covers 70–600 A rated current and motor power up to 16,300 HP (12,200 kW).
Features
Integrated bypass and protection
Main and bypass vacuum contactors and motor protection are built into the standard cabinet.
Flexible Torque Control (FTC)
A linear speed ramp matched to constant, linear or quadratic loads ensures a smooth start.
Five starting modes
Voltage ramp, current limit, current ramp, pump control and torque control can be selected.
Pump control
A dedicated algorithm reduces water hammer and pressure surges in pipelines.
Fibre-optic isolation
Medium voltage and low voltage compartments are fully separated by fibre-optic firing.
Heavy-duty design
Heatsinks are sized for a real heavy-duty cycle and operation at 50 °C ambient.
Applications
- Water and wastewater pumping stations
- Mills, crushers and conveyors in cement and mining
- Pumps and fans in pulp and paper plants
- Fans and exhausters in the metals industry
- Sugar and ethanol plants
- Marine and offshore applications
