WG20 is the first geared motor series developed entirely in-house by WEG. Development was led by WEG Gear Systems (formerly Watt Drive), the group's gearbox centre of excellence in Austria, bringing more than 50 years of gearbox experience into a new platform.
The range spans four gear unit types — helical, parallel shaft, helical bevel and helical worm — with nominal output torques between 50 and 18,000 Nm. Mounting dimensions follow established market standards, so WG20 can be used in new machines and as a direct replacement in existing systems. Even the two-stage designs offer a wide ratio range.
Housings up to 600 Nm are made of lightweight aluminium, while sizes from 800 Nm use torsionally stiff monobloc cast iron. Under normal operating conditions, sizes up to 600 Nm need no maintenance thanks to lifetime lubrication. A low circumferential speed in the input stage, optimised oil quantities and a flexible gear wheel design reduce losses and noise.
Features
Developed in-house
WG20 is the first geared motor series developed entirely by WEG itself.
Four gear unit types
Helical, parallel shaft, helical bevel and helical worm designs share one platform.
Market-standard mounting dimensions
Units can replace other brands directly in existing installations.
Maintenance-free design
Units up to 600 Nm are lubricated for life and need no maintenance under normal conditions.
High efficiency and low noise
A low-speed input stage and optimised oil quantity reduce losses.
Rigid housing
Monobloc cast iron housings from 800 Nm provide high torsional stiffness.
Applications
- Conveyor and intralogistics systems
- Packaging and filling machines
- Food and beverage processing lines
- Mixers and process equipment
- Hoisting and travel drives
- Direct replacement of existing gearboxes
