GH30 is WEG's horizontal hydrogenerator line for mini and small hydro power plants. Its electromagnetic design is flexible enough to be tailored to each project, so the generator can be coupled directly to Francis, Kaplan or Pelton turbines.

The frame is made from carbon steel sheet that is cut, bent and welded to the stiffness required by the generator rating, with openings for air inlet, air outlet and terminal boxes already provided. The rib-free cylindrical shaft has IEC/NEMA standard shaft ends. When required, the inertia flywheel is integrated directly on the generator shaft and the bearings are sized to carry it, which shortens the generating unit and lowers maintenance costs.

Thermal sensors, voltage and current measuring devices and speed sensors are supplied as standard protection. The main terminal box suits low and medium voltage and has six terminals with access to the neutral leads. Euronorm supports GH30 projects with preliminary selection based on turbine and plant data, along with quotations.

Features

Built for mini and small hydro

The line was developed specifically around the needs of mini and small hydro power plants.

Flexible electromagnetic design

Each design is adapted to the application for coupling to Francis, Kaplan or Pelton turbines.

Sized for runaway speed

The generator is designed to withstand the runaway speed of the hydraulic turbine.

Integrated flywheel

An inertia flywheel can be mounted on the generator shaft, shortening the unit and reducing maintenance.

Rolling or sleeve bearings

Low-maintenance bearing designs carry both radial and axial loads from the turbine and flywheel.

Standard monitoring

Thermal sensors, voltage and current measurement and speed sensors improve operating reliability.

Applications

  • Mini and small hydro power plants
  • Run-of-river plants
  • Units driven by Francis, Kaplan and Pelton turbines
  • Generator replacement in existing plants
