W22 Prime is the next generation of WEG's widely used W22 induction motor platform. It keeps the robustness and simplicity of a squirrel-cage induction motor while offering IE4 efficiency as standard and reaching IE5 in many frame sizes.
Its key advantage is that it can start direct-on-line without permanent magnets or a mandatory drive, and the same motor can also run on a variable speed drive. Frame sizes match standard IE3 motors, so replacements in existing plants do not require changes to foundations or couplings.
An optimised electromagnetic design, improved thermal performance and lower noise and vibration levels cut energy costs noticeably in continuously running loads such as pumps, fans and compressors. WEG is releasing the range in stages by frame group. Euronorm offers efficiency analysis, selection support and quotations for replacing existing motors with W22 Prime.
