W22Xec is a hazardous-area motor based on the W22 platform, developed for Zone 2 gas and Zone 22 dust areas. Its Ex ec construction prevents arcs, sparks and surface temperatures that could cause ignition during normal operation and certain abnormal conditions. For Ex tc, the maximum enclosure surface temperature is defined taking dust layer conditions into account.
The line is ATEX and IECEx certified by SGS BASEEFA and marked Ex ec IIC T3 Gc / Ex tc IIIB T125 °C Dc. Terminal boxes have at least IP54 protection, with minimum creepage and clearance distances, screw connections with specified tightening torques and equipotential bonding between frame and box. Conductive plastic fans are used on small and medium frames and aluminium fans on the largest frames.
IE3 efficiency, IP55 protection and a C4 painting plan are standard, with IE1, IE2, IE4 and IP66 as options. Embedded winding protection and a separate nameplate make it certified for inverter duty too. Euronorm supports W22Xec selection and provides quotations.
