W22Xtb is a dust ignition proof motor based on the W22 platform, developed to maximise safety and reliability in potentially explosive dust atmospheres. It is intended for areas classified as Zone 21, where conductive dust may be present as a cloud or as layers up to 5 mm thick.
With “Ex tb” protection, the IP66 enclosure keeps dust out and the external surface temperature stays below the defined limit; the standard marking is Ex tb IIIC T125 °C Db (T105 °C optional on frames 71–132). The standard version features IE3 efficiency, 140 °C PTC winding protection, class F insulation and the 202P painting plan to ISO 12944 C4.
Embedded winding protection and a separate nameplate stating permissible variable-speed values make it certified for inverter duty. Pt-100s, thermostats, heaters, C5M/C5I or NORSOK paint, a VIK-compliant build and INMETRO, EAC Ex and SANAS certification are available as options.
